VICTOR JAMIESON

SCA (NZ) Chapter Executive Committee Member

Victor Jamieson joined the body corporate industry nearly five years ago, following a 25-year career in the debt collection industry in both New Zealand and Australia. The debt collection sector operates within a highly regulated framework, influenced by the compliance requirements of its clients, including prominent entities such as New Zealand's top four banks, the IRD, ACC, NZ Transport Agency, Contact Energy, and Spark. Representing such organisations necessitated a comprehensive understanding of their unique risk and compliance frameworks, as well as the legislation governing their operations.

Throughout his career, Victor has worked closely with various government departments, including the Privacy Commissioner’s Office, the Commerce Commission, and MBIE, particularly in the context of industry and legislative reform initiatives. These included areas such as financial services, the Privacy Act, and the Debt Collection Code of Conduct. His extensive experience in navigating compliance, risk, and regulatory environments equips him with valuable insights to contribute to elevating industry standards or maintaining high standards where they already exist.

As a relative newcomer to the body corporate industry, Victor believes he offers a fresh and alternative perspective to industry discussions, informed by his diverse professional background.
